While reading some article in a local paper this questions came to my mind. I guess that this will be one of your less worries if you start thinking about dying.
But now if you think about it, with the Internet everyone is capable of leaving a permanent mark, something that will last for a lot of years to come, call it: blogs, post, news, tutorials, software, etc.
Taking aside the “permanent mark” subject(that could be something that will not only leave your family deeply missing you, but maybe, a lot of people around the world that read your blog for example) also there is the email deal.
People email are basically all their lives, you can learn anything about a person from reading his email.
And we are the only ones that have the password of our emails. What happen if my family will like to read my last messages when I am gone? See my last pictures?, Understand my last emotions?
Will they have the right of doing it? I think in some parts of the world they will( If a Judge tell so). Will the different email providers be accessible to this? I don’t think it will be easy.
Also, I found really strange/curius that there are different sites that offer sending your last “cyber-will” to your family when you die. Thats right.
It work something like this:
- You register to the page
- You save your personal messages, pictures, thoughts, etc
- You give the password to a close friend/family member, and when you die they can log in and see everything that you left behind.
I can only imagine my mom reading her email and finding something like:
“From : DONOTREPLY
This is an auto generated email, please do not reply to this email.
We regret to inform you that “Your name” just die” With this password you can enter in this address and …..”
Well you get my point…
And there are actually sites like this, this is just one http://www.mylastemail.com/
And above all they actually show people smiling in their images:
………….
I guess something more “appropriated” will not make the month sales…
Well there you have it. After all, In the words of Chuck Palahniuk
“We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.”
Right?
